question about tubular locks

Postby gloilin » 14 Sep 2006 12:57

I've seen a lot of threads here about picking tubular locks with a tubular lock pick, but is it possible to do so with regular pin tumbler picks/tension tool?
I have a 7 pin tubular lock that I found on ebay that I've had little luck picking so far but I dont want to shell out the cash for a tubular pick as it's just a hobby for me and doesn't generate any income

Yes, you need to search the site for hand picking tubular locks, its been discussed more times than the tubular picks have,

Pick as a normal lock,

Plus you may have to repeat the picking of it several times, as the pins reset themselves each time the core is turned a few degrees. Its not as hard as it sounds, although applying tension to the core may prove tricky.

A file probably wouldnt touch it too well, you need to grind it,

You may be lucky and find a stone flat enough and the right consistancy in the garden that you can use to reduce the width a little,
