Can't see the keyway, but if it's just a standard Viro lock, slimline "Euro" picks should do just fine. Nothing fancy, regular pin-tumbler.

I've been browsing around for a while but this is my first post so Hi to everybody.

I'm a beginner (less than one year of picking locks), but so far I picked a good numer of locks, some of them with security pins. I often use a combined raking first - single pin then (keeping tension) technique.

I'm having an hard time trying to pick the same kind of Viro padlock. Mine is quite big (approx. 3" x 2" x 1/2"). The strange thing is that it has a Mushroom/Spool driver in position 1 and some others in the back, I'm not sure in which positions.

I know that theoretically position 1 is not adviced for special drivers because of the difficulty to insert the key, but the spring is quite strong and keeps the cilinder aligned anyway.

I tried different techniques, single pin, raking, reverse racking but so far I couldn't get it open.

Any advice ?

i have this same lock and i am having trouble. I am a beginner so i don't have real picks, i have ones that i made from a rake thanx to a topic here. i have been able to open a few locks with these and wondered if there were techniques for these extra security things so that i don't have to buy a set of picks.
thanx in advance

I've just managed to take the padlock apart. What I've found is quite surprising: 5/5 Spool Drivers.

Now I can understand why it is so difficult to pick.

hey-

I lived in africa (believe it or not) and there's alot of Viro locks over there. From what i've seen, they're about intermediate.

The lock i had worked best when picked from front to back.
