Recently my wife has developed an interest in lock picking. This was prompted by Raimundo sending me a couple pick sets, and my wife thinking that they were "beautiful".
So I re-pinned a few Yale cylinders, 2 pin, 3 pin, and 4 pin. She picked the 2 pin for the first time in about 10 minutes, then with in 1/2 hr she was able to reliably pick it. But once she got to the 3 pin cylinder, she gave up.
She still could not get a picture of how the lock functions in her head. I tried to get her to review the MIT guide, but she lost interest, (she needs more pictures..
)
I opened the LSI guide up tonight and immediately thought " This is exactly what she needs".
She went through the whole guide, asking me to demonstrate some of the techniques shown, then asked me if she could mark Raimundo's picks like in the guide. To which I replied "He|| No!".
Long story short.. too late... This guide was able to bring a level of clarity to a beginner that otherwise might have never been obtained, due to lack of attention span.
I feel this guide is great for beginners, as it covers all of the necessary topics, and leaves little for the reader to have to imagine.
