Cant Pick The 5th Pin, HELP!!

Another "Newb" Here,

Ive had my lock pick set for a couple years but ive just recently had any luck. I bought a really simple Yale $10 deadbolt and took it apart, ive got no trouble at all getting 4 pins but i cant get 5. Its got a security or "spool" pin but i still cant bypass all 5 together even when i put the "spool" in front.

Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Try setting that one first. Then go to the regular ones. Also make sure you arn't making it false set on you.

I think i found my problem, The last 2 pins go from a #8 to a #1, i cant get the last pin up without over picking the one before it.

Any Ideas? Tools?

This is a situation here you need to have a light touch with either a good hook, or a daimond. A good diamond with a very slim shaft will reach in under the low pin, and allow you to puch the last pin high enough.

Keep practicing until you can reach under the low pin, and lift the higer one behind it.

I had the same problem with my 5 pin padlock....I found that you don't have to set some pins once, but infact you have to go back to pins you think you've set and set them again.

I'm only new to this, and i was getting frustrated because i was picking each pin once and it wasn't opening.....the trick in my case was to check all pins a few times and set them a second time.

The security pins needed to be set twice and the last pin needed a full hook pick.

Now im able to pick all the locks in my house and a few others i dont need to mention
