I have finally picked my nemesis, the brinks shrouded! :D 8)

I have been fighting in vain for quite a few months now, and now thanks to Romstars quote
Reach to the rear, and try to set that one first. Or you could over lift it, and then set the rest.

I have had a few locks with that low then high combo trick, and most of the time, I just reach in ...
I was working on it tonight as I was reformatting the hard drive on my main box, and suddenly I felt it drop and then a little more and finally I set the first pin and bingo it opened and I just about crapped a brick with shock. It was quite cool 8) Thanks guys!!

You've beat the old brinks shrouded!! A nice lock for the money to practice on for sure. Now a step up would be an american 700 6 pin. Same keyway, same number of pins, but much better tolerances.

Congrats on your pick though  .
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

You should snap it shut

Postby raimundo » 23 Nov 2006 11:43

You should snap it shut and do it again right away while the memory is in your fingers. after a while you will be able to do it consistently You might be handicapped if you do not have slimline picks, and the trick with this lock is to go light on the tension, Also if you are picking it a lot, I hope at least the top edge of your pick is well sanded.
