I suspect it will only work with raking and not with actually picking the lock, pin by pin.
I heard the conversation in french, and my french is not that good, but this is is the general idea ........
Beginner pickers have to learn both pick-technique and how to use a tension wrench. Without the correct tension and at the same time good pick technique the lock won't open.

HPC weighted tension wrench (top) rake and diamond pick (middle) and holder (bottom)
A weighted tension wrench was used to do half the work. An unaltered 5 pin deadbolt lock was used.
At first the trainer preset the weight to provide the best tension. The trainees were able to concentrate on working the pins with a pick and not worrying about the tension.
With the pins in the correct position, trainees were rewarded with the lock opening by its self. (The weighted wrench turned the plug)
Later the trainees learned how to set the tension themselves and try different locks.
