I have 2 master No 3 locks. One I purchased yesterday and have picked about 20 times in the past dy or so. I have an older number 3 that has a longer neck on it and I've picked that only once but havent been able to pick it again. Is there any difference? i wouldnt think so since they're both No 3's.

Hi and Welcome to the site!
The "neck" is called a shackle and you can get many different shackle sizes while the shell of the lock stays the same No.3
If your old No.3 is not as well lubricated, it might make picking harder. Also if the keys are totally different (the cuts on the key, those peaks and valleys could be deep or shallow), and that fact will make each lock slightly different in the way you set the pins, and the order in which you set the pins to the shearline.
Is your new No.3 the commerical version with grey plastic on the bottom or the normal blue plastic guard?
lastly, when you put the tension wrench in the old No.3 and you're picking it, turn the wrench clothwise, like starting a car ignition. No3's key can open the lock by turning left or right.
good luck and keep on practicing,

The new No 3 is silver on the bottom but has a blue painted strip across the outsides of the lock. I have been turning clockwise on the old master, I did on both. It feels like I'm oversetting the back pins and they dont seem to want to come back down.

I got my PXS-14 set 2 weeks ago and I picked a new No.3 within the first 5 min. I picked 3 more m3's but I came across some that I can't pick at all. The one I have can picked in 3 sec but others are much harder. It's frustrating when you can pick one in 3 sec and others (older m3) not at all.

That always happens. Especially if you get your hands on some used ones, they usually have one pin thats jammed up or something. A quick blast with a electrical contact cleaner and another with a dry lubricant helps though.

Its frustrating, very frustrating. I'm almost positive the pins are sticking a little bit, the back 2 pins.

Try your best not to use extra force to lift up the pins in these situations. It'll just end up with your picks getting all bent. With locks that respond like this I tend to play with the tension until I can dislodge the jammed pin lightly with my hook pick.

Whats the best way to lubricate those pins? I know I should probably search but that doesnt really facilitate my lazyness

no security pins, infact at times a stern look will open a master no3

All yall need to clean the old locks.
I use break parts cleaner. I squirt some up the keyway and run the key in and out a few times. I squirt some more and let the lock drain. I run the key in and out a few more time and squirt some more. I do this until all the discolored parts cleaner becomes clear. Once you are sure that all the nastys are out of the lock, let it sit and dry. It will not take very long as break parts cleaner is fast to evaporate.
Squirt some lock lube, like Houdini, in there and run the key in and out a few times and see if it glides though the key hole any better than it did before.
A few warnings.
Break parts cleaner will eat and discolor plastic ~ Do not use it above your kitchen floor ~ Do it out doors!!
This stuff has a foul order and should be used in well ventilated areas ~ Again, Dot it out doors!!
If you have any open cuts or scratches on your hands and the parts cleaner get in them, scream into a pillow as it will tingle a little bit!!
After the lock is cleaned and lubed up again, it should be able to be picked just like the ones that you bought at the store yesterday.
~ Master lock with security pins ~ Thats funny
