This pad lock seems to have 5 pins , the brand name is Wire Rope
Has anyone heard of them, and is it possible to pick it with a paper clip!
I need a hint on what to use for a tention wrentch?

Have you thought about buying a real pick set or making them yourself? For a tension wrench you can always grind down a hex wrench which worrks very well. Of course that's only if you have access to a grinder. Having proper picking tools will make the world of difference.

I haven't really been successful using paperclips so I can't give you any input on them. When you get your pick set you'll be amazed at how much easier it is though. Good luck.

I have tried many times to make a decent shim out of a diskette. I have had only limited success. Unfortunately diskettes vary quite a bit in materials. The disk that has worked for me was an old IBM disk. I don't use padlock shims at all, and I only experimented on one lock, so your mileage will definately vary. There is a nice video that a member made about making shims out of a soda/beer can.

I tryed, and now i have no fingers left!
Ouch i tryed twisting it and the bugga got me!..lol looks like this lock is gonna have to wait untill i get my set. It hasnt got a key so this makes it more of a challenge for me to open, cose i can prove i picked it. I already got a bet on with my brother on if i can pick the padlock and i sooooo badly wanna beat him.

Hey technik,
I'll be getting his camera tomorrow and will post the pics at the same time. I have used the pick in the 7-pin configuration and it works flawlessly on a Master Lock motorcycle lock.

You want to use paperclips as what tool now? A pick or a tension tool? I suggest that either way you go out and find some better materials, or even better, buy a small set you you know whats going on, then progress to making your own picks.

i find picking locks with paper clips easy but, thats probly because i was picking locks with paper clips all through elementry school, and i was only caught twice...Anyway the way to do it is to put more tension on the paper-clip actting as the tension wrench then you would normally do, then you use the other paper clip actting as the pick by rubbing it up and down very fast this will open a 5 pin lock in about 4 minutes using only paper clips.
hope this helps all you 5th graders out there.
i find if you're caught lock picking, your not caught red handed but, more black gloved
