New system

Postby lockpick1968 » 12 Aug 2007 8:56

8) I was wondering if any of you guys seen on cnn news when they showed some of the new security of locks and systems that are coming out? They showed this one unit that requires a tubluar key that in the middle has a setback half cutmoon shape with 2 electronic mini probes offset in it. When the key is inserted it send some type od signal to the lock then allowing it to turn to be opened. HHmmm figure we gonna have to try and obtain some info on that setup.

UWS is right and does have one on his keychain. I have been hoping for a while that he would post his thoughts of the system up on the forums. I have heard there are big issues with the lock and key having clean contacts for proper function. I have never held one nor had one apart to see if there are any potential flaws to bypass the lock. The reason I have not bought one is simply because they are out of this world expensive. Way more than even the alboy cliq, assa cliq, and multlock cliq. Atleast the cyberlock sets I have seen are more expensive. In the $800 range was the cost of the last kit I saw up for sale on ebay.

I have also heard that they use a solenoid to block rotation of the plug. That's not ideal if you don't design in certain other security precautions.
The thread in the advanced section has some more info about that.

The main advantage of this product is that it allows you to monitor who and at what time the door was opened or was attempted to be opened, ( thieving employies coming back in the night ) you canalso change/add/cancel access times once the toe-rags have been caught.
From what I remember , the nice man from cyberlock said it was possible to use your mobile phone to do some legal trickery to the system.

Yes, the full audit capabilities of the system is a great feature. As you said, this allows you to monitor who gained access, what time they gained access and depending on the setup how long they had access.

I would like to buy one or two with all of the key programming hardware but the cost of the cyberlock system is just too high for me to buy it and then throw it on the shelf.
