Rekeying a double bolt ultra gate lock.

Postby prag » 17 May 2008 15:36

Did this job a while ago and thought I would share some pics. This lock is used for security gates and in this instance was used as a security gate in a strongroom.

When the key is turned to open, the double bolt retracts and a single bolt on the other end shoots out.

The rear view of this lock. This is the push bolt to activate the lock.

This is the lock box housing the ultra lock. All that held the lock in place was just a bit of welding. A bit of knocking with a hammer and a cold steel chisel did the trick.

Image
The stripped lock. The two bolt will lock it when the middle bolt is depressed and by turning the key it will unlock by ejecting the middle bolt.
The grey box on the left of the pic is where the pins and springs are housed.

The messy bits. What happen here was whenever I was busy with this lock, I kept on being disturbed by clients etc. Lesson learnt. We now have a wooden block with 6 to 8 slots or grooves dilled on top of it. Just so it makes little half circle grooves and we line the pins from 1 to 6 on this wooden block. So much more easier.

The pin housing installed and the key tested and lubricated.
