Master Lock 575 Question

Postby djslacker » 27 Jun 2008 21:38

I just got done picking the Master Lock 575 a couple of times and I'm assuming that the silver pin on the side of the lock is meant to be drilled out to change the core. If that's the case, isn't that a breach in the security of the lock? If anyone knows, feel free to chime in, but I'll drill it out soon and post more pics.

Also, 5 pins, no spools, I beat it going pin to pin.

The pic is a little big, so here's an offsite address for it:

It can be drilled out to remove the core, I think you will find out when you try it's not an efficient way to defeat this lock. Those pins are tough even with cobalt bits.

A shame to drill it instead of decode it... this probably answers my problems about repinning my 532, but I won't give up. So shiny... does anyone know what the retaining pin is made of? Maybe heat and quenching could replace drilling... if the pin is made of a different metal. Opinions?

They are made of hardened steel.
