Question.. Search is not working for me also..

I have been picking for a while, hobby only but along the way there have been a few occasions where it came in VERY handy.. I have wondered how to know which way to apply pressure while picking??

Some locks open to the right, others to the left..

So I was considering making my own tube pick, I made all my others as well. Is it worth it or not?? I have a small machine shop so its not a big deal either way..

What direction to apply torque depends on if you're locking or unlocking a right sided or left sided door. Just pretend that your wrench is like a key and you want to apply pressure the same direction that a key would to complete the desired effect.

As for tubular picks, they're something neat to have.

A lot of times you can figure out which way to turn the lock by putting pressure each direction with the tension wrench, normally the direction it needs to turn to be unlocked will give more than the direction to be locked.

Alot of it has to do with knowing the lock you're picking. Kwikset kik for instance always goes counter-clockwise. Deadbolts generally need to be picked clockwise on a left-handed door, and counter-clockwise on a right-handed door. If you get a good plug spinner though, it doesn't really matter.
