Schlage lock

Postby ShadowPick » 31 Aug 2004 17:52

I have a five tumbler, which is a schlage, and I was wondering if anyone has any good advice about how to pick it?
I liked my old signature.

There are a lot of 5-pin schlages!? There are deadbolts, key in knob, key in lever... etc... These are pretty standard, at least in the states and a lot of other places as well. If it is nothing special such as their Everest/Primus line of cylinders, then you should attempt to pick it as you would any other pin tumbler! A better description of the lock or a picture would be of great help to those of us who would like to help you out! If you are comfortable disassembling the lock, you will know if you have any special pins in the lock as well as it's condition internally. A quick glance at the key may help to get a general idea of where your pick may need to end up.

Have you attempted it yet? ;? Just stick your tools in and give it a try and then return to this topic and post if you have a specific problem... ...but before you do any of that check out the general information and do a search for "schlage" and anything else that might give you some helpful information! :) If you don't search around here, people tend to get mildly irritated because most everything has been covered several times over! There is a wealth of information here so if you want to get better there is plenty to help you out! :)

Seriously! Just dig right in! :D Use whatever tools you find the most comfortable in the keyway, or just whatever you got! Don't be afraid to take a break or reset the lock and start over a lot! You'll get it open eventually, but take the time to learn the feel and you will be able to open it consistently! Welcome if you are new! Have fun and good luck! :)

I don't know why people insist on posting multiple very VAGUE posts.

Here is his previous post about his simply put "schlage" lock.

I guess I should take my own advice and search a bit more, hehe! I checked out that previous post and I almost forgot to read the fine print! ;)

HEHEHE! :D Read the fine print! :)
