Info for some beginner's like myself

Postby Slicer250 » 30 May 2009 0:12

Alright, I've been lurking around this website for a week or two now, and I feel like maybe I should contribute something, unfortunately I am not that experienced in lock picking compared to the fellows on this forum, so this is basically a bunch of information that could be helpful to other beginners like me that's on the website, and although the search tool is sweet, it might just help to have it put in one place for someone.

Alright, first of all, MIT lock picking guide:

Here's a helpful thread on what picks to buy:

Here is a good lock to learn how to pick with:

On getting better at picking, digital_blue made a great guide:

Now some tips I've picked up on tension around here:
1.) Use varying tensions when picking, especially light tension
2.) Putting your tension wrench in front of the pins, it'll give you extra room for picking

I found this post very informative on spool pins:

All this information came from the fine people here at lockpicking101, I'm just putting it all in a convenient place. I know this info is only skating on the very top of the crazy amount of knowledge on this site, anyway I hope someone will be able to find this useful!

Haha, there was something much better than this already made right here: viewtopic.php?t=10528, so actually if any mod could delete this it would be appreciated =)
