tubular plug spinner

Postby Rickthepick » 7 May 2010 3:29

has anyone had any success making a tubular plug spinner.

I made one filing out all material on an old tubular key, leaving just the pip on the end and cutting a slot for my existing plug spinner to fit... but alas it did not work.

im thinking i need a more powerful spinner like those dyno ones.

I suggest you simply push something soft against the pins to keep (and maintain) an impression. An almost melded pen barrel could be enough to keep them aligned while turning.

Cheers :)

there are some pen barrels that are made of stuff that feels soft to the touch, Ive often wondered if one of these 'rubberized' feel pen barrels would be a good impressioning tool but I haven't been wondering with the lock and pen in my hand,
If someone else tries this let us know.

Use a standard pick on which the fingers can be tightened if the size is appropriate. Also make a tube of very soft aluminum and hammer it onto the lock after picking. The metal will deform and become the key. This works temporarily but will not last.

the bic pen barrel also would easily deform into a key when tapped down to the bottom of the keyway while the picked lock is turned less than one eight of a turn, it won't work if the lock realigns over other holes
