I was going through some videos today on you tube and I was having a problem with a simple Master 40mm when I found a video on a 40mm being "shackle bumped"

The poster mentioned wizwazle, being a fan I went and looked through his vids and only found this:

I found this interesting, but no real information except the theory that the weight and vibration of the pick creates enough force to bump the lock. Is this a luck of the draw or is there some actual technique for this to work effectively? Like he sais this could be a useful tool if properly utilized.
