Animation about lock picking

Postby Mojito » 30 Mar 2011 12:44

Hey,

I am a new User and new to the subject Lock Picking. I am from Germany and hope that my english is good enough to post here.

Perhaps this forum could help me to learn lock picking AND english

I have read through the threads for a few days and now I have created two animations. One to show how a key opens a lock and one to show how to pick a lock with the hook and a torsion wrench.
But I am a beginner and so everybody is invited to help me searching for errors.

Perhaps this animations could help other beginners through the process of understanding how locks work and how the picking works.

Key opens lock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgngKHdZxNI
Lock Picking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9hhBJHfwJE

The animation is done in Blender 3D.

best regards,
Mojito

Hey Mojito, welcome to the forum. The animations are very good, I wish I could do stuff like that... only thing I'd say is in the picking animation there was no binding order, they just set back to front and that happens very rarely. I'd love to see the same animation but showing how binding pins behave differently to those which aren't, if that makes sense :)

These are both excellent animations that thoroughly illustrate the mechanism and function of a standard pin tumbler lock as well as individual manipulation of the pins with a pick. The only critique I have is that the picking animation doesn't show much detail on the importance of the tensioning tool.

Overall excellent, and nice work with Blender. I gave up on using blender very quickly. It's not a very user friendly graphics program. >_<

Ok, perhaps I will give it a new try with a second camera showing the tension and the pins set in different order.

By the way, blender is very user friendly (after a while ). It is only different to use then other programs. And there is a new version with a new user interface.

Hey,

I'm sorry but the new semester at my University has started on monday and I have to work hard for a few weeks to pass all the qualification tests.
Sadly there is only time for picking in the train and no time for animations.

best regards,
Mojito
