Different picking method

Postby Daggers » 23 Mar 2012 10:13

Ok, so i was able to pick a lock without any tension tools. Don't believe me? check out the video :) https://plus.google.com/photos/11666880 ... 9283257105 guess how i did it! and if you saw my post over at keypicking, don't spoil the secret! no, it's not faked and yes, there are 5 pin stacks in there including 1 spooled driver pin.

Hole in the tabletop that holds the back of the plug, letting you tension by twisting the body of the lock? That's how I'd do it, anyway.

its difficult to see exactly what you're doing, but it looks like you're using a lot of force to hold it, so i'm going to guess you're pressing on the core from behind somehow.

If the core is not fixed in place with a screw cap, or snapring, you can just push it forward from the back and the shear line will hang up pins in the step created by this direction of movement.

If you have a lock on a door that requires some extra jiggling to remove the key and you have found that pushing on the plug helps you remove the key, you need to screw the cap at the back of the plug tighter.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!

yup, you got it. there's no cap at the end of the plug so i apply tension not in a turning motion, but more in a pushing motion. At the end of the video where it opens, you can see that the plug opens by popping up
