Apparently I have offended the Lock Deities

Postby mseifert » 3 Jun 2014 11:48

Let me tell you how my day went yesterday .. Lock While anyway ..

Grab test equipment head off to job .. get to job realize I forgot the keys to the lock .. Reach over my picks and cut the Master No7 with bolt cutters.. <facepalm>..

Try to impression a American A5200 that has been the bane of my existence since I got it .. locked, no key, have yet to be able to pick it .. and then yesterday broke 2 keys off in the lock .. the first broke where the bow and the blade come toegther so I was able to remove it .. The Second one broke at pin #3 so .. now I am going to have to drill the trap retainer, remove the cylinder, etc .. :x :x

Now on to my Master 7040.. Yet another lock I have been working on forever to pick and have not been able to get it .. The lock was open when I got it so I removed the cylinders.. sprayed it with some WD-40( I know big No-NO) .. start working the pins and notices that pin #1 is pretty loose and has no spring tension .. So long story short the driver pin is stuck in the bible ..

Since I am not a locksmith by trade .. Thankfully none of this was in front of a customer or on there locks..
When I finally leave this world.. Will someone please tell my wife what I have REALLY spent on locks ...

Try sacrificing a large pizza and a case of decent beer to the lock gods. Send it by way of Zeke79 or fgarci03. They will be sure it gets to the lock gods. It may not work, but it can't hurt! ;)

I find laying out a pair of bolt cutters and a pointed stare results in a more cooperative attitude.

Thanks I will have to try both suggestion .. Good News and Bad News ..

Good News.. Walked in the local Smith shop said "I need a cylinder for a Master 7040, mine has a driver pin stuck in the bible .." Smith gives me RCA dogs look (Guessing because I knew the terminology).. $3.50 and Bob your Uncle my lock is fixed..

Bad News .. The office charged me $25.00 for the lock I cut ..

Glad that you got the lock core for cheap, and caught a lockie off guard. Sorry you got charged for the lock you cut. Maybe two pizzas would have been better. :D

Can tell you arn't a kid, since you referred to Sounder. (For the generationally challenged, Sounder is the name of the dog in the old RCA advertisements.) When you referred to that look, immediately knew the look you were referring to. :) Thanks for the pleasant memories.
