Help Picking/Identifying Steamer Trunk Lock

Postby jwinchell » 30 Aug 2014 16:55

My mother-in-law inherited an old steamer trunk in pretty decent shape. The problem is that it didn't come with the key. I have linked some pictures that show the lock from the front and back. Inscribed on the lock is 'Eagle Lock Co, Terryville, CT' and the number 28. I'm looking for a key and/or a method of 'picking' the lock to allow us to lock the trunk. Any help would be appreciated

My suggestion would be to call around for a local locksmith who can impression a lever lock.

The trunk is already unlocked, and I would leave it that way. Most of these trunk locks have been busted open by the time I see them so they aren't exactly very secure anyhow. Gordon is right about finding a locksmith to make you a key, if you feel you need a storage place away from the kids.
