Made myself a dimple lock!

Postby thecrazylockkid » 22 Aug 2015 2:09

Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum, so please be nice :D ! Here's a fun project I've been working on this month for Jeff Moss and myself!

Here's a video of what I've been working on:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIwgwCG4Ncs

Please enjoy the video, and feel free to add on to this topic/ask questions!

P.S.: Please don't ask me about trading on the lock in this video; it's already been sent back to Jeff Moss :D

Cheers,

Boaz

Very nice work, Boaz! Enjoyed your creativity and will be trying that out some day.

Perhaps if you can carve a straight line in the inside wall of the shell, you could use the ball bearings on top of the pins located in the original channels as a check pin. Maybe have a cut on the key blade for a 2 or 3 depth or something like that for the check pin to work, locating that cut where you have a shallow dimple, to reduce risk.

Keep up the great work!

Gordon
Just when you finally think you have learned it all, that is when you learn that you don't know anything yet.

That would be a great idea! I'm probably gonna try that out again when I have more locks to mess around with :D Thanks for the idea!

Nicely done! It would make it easier to clamp a cylinder in a vise if you put a shim in opposite each jaw. Less possibility of distortion, too.
