Taking a break from working on my 6 pin rim cylinder. I am doing progressive pinning and had no problem with one pin (6) and then even two pins (5). However, I was getting the lock open so quick that I don't know how much feedback I was learning. I added a pin to chamber 4 and then suddenly all day today I got nowhere. I ended up dumping the pins and going back to one pin and even that was giving me problems!
I wasn't getting any feedback when setting to shear...half the time I thought I set a pin I think I was just picking wards...
I am not sure if it is just one of those times where you get lazy picking and need to set it down, or if I need to focus on my tensioner (currently have been using a Peterson TOK). I noticed that sometimes I get really crisp feedback at shear and sometimes it is just useless. Could it be the sidebar binding into the side of a pin that is giving me crappy feedback (even when picking clockwise to shear)? I initially found CCW to be much easier, but I've been forcing myself to learn it CW (since it is more difficult that way).
I just am starting to wonder if I am learning with the progressive pinning, or just wearing down chisel tip pins...should I just add all the pin stacks? I have two mushroom pins coming later...
Anyway sorry for the muddled message, I just needed a break from picking and thought I'd sound off here.
