Assa barrel pins question.

Hey guys, just purchased my first assa and I'm having trouble setting the barrel pins. I was just wondering if there is any way to keep them from completely seizing up or if the only way to get past them is to apply my own counter rotation to the plug. Thanks fella's!!

Maybe if you go real light on tension you can push hard while wiggling your pick & get past them but its never worked for me. I only have 2 assa locks with assa spools & i cannot get past them unless i counter rotate manually.

The ASSA security drivers catch in the counterbore in the pin chambers in the plug. Just like G- lock said, light tension and manually backing up the core of you feel counter rotation.

core control is critical with Assa's (and other well made locks) and to that end i use shims along the side of my prybar to make a near press fit.

on my current Assa project my keyway is .059, the prybar is .049, and to that i add .010 of stainless steel shim to the side of it for a nice snug fit with no slop.

getting such tight core control allows you to counter rotate exactly as needed.
