I won the boobie prize: 15 lbs of old cut keys

Postby pickmonger » 5 Nov 2017 15:07

When visiting Montreal recently I met with a bunch of Locksport guys.

I entered a draw for some lockpicks and ended up with a heavy box of cut keys.

It had Yale, Schlage, Weiser, Dexter etc keys that have already been cut for use as regular door keys.

I am assuming that cut keys can be made into workable bumpkeys. The existing cuts might even help with placing the new cuts
when cutting to the bumpkey depths.

Having a number of blanks to work with means we can experiment at no cost (except our time)with cuts to the shoulder, depths of cuts and cuts on the tip of the key.

I also want to experiment with springs and dampeners to see just how good a bumpkey opener can be made.

If someone has a key machine and knows how to create bumpkeys I was thinking about trying to make a deal where you would get
some key blanks ( number to be discussed) and you would send me one working optimized bumpkey with springs and dampeners.
