So back when I was just starting off I had finally gotten a American 700 down pat.
I was able to SPP and get it open pretty quickly! Took this opportunity to gut it and see what I was working with. turns out it was your standard security pins, but the lock was mastered so it was way less impressive than I initially thought. I had bought the lock on eBay without a key so I took this opportunity to measure (quite poorly) the pins and made note of them.
I put the lock back together and I tightened that screw way way harder than anyone should. after that I tried my hardest and could not get it open at all requires crazy tension to get the pins to bind. Cut the key to the code and had no success with that either, there was absolutely no movement in the core!
I threw the lock in a box and finally came across it this year. Now I can SPP Americans all day long but this one was no match for me I assume due to the tension issue.
Frustrated, I filed the key into an all 8 bump key and got her open in a few seconds!
Lessons learned: Loosened the screw! Realized my bad measuring had lead to being off on two pins with the key. Bumping is fun.
