Schlage SC1 bump key Q&A's

Hey everyone!
I am trying to make my own Schlage SC1 bump key for the locks I can't pick, Really want to re-key them but can't get access. Does anyone know the distance between the pins on Schlage SC1 deadbolt lock ???? or the exact amount I am suppose to take off of the shoulder of the bump key???? Any bump key info will be very very appreciated!!!!1!!

The pin spacing is .156 you need #9 pin depth, which is .300 deep if I remember my Framon book correctly

I just went on Ebay and typed Schlage depth keys and they sell Schlage and Quickset depth keys for 12 to 13 dollars.... The #9 is a bumpkey for Schlage and the #7 is for quickset.

That is if you didnt want to try and make your own...

why dont you just stop being cheap and buy them and just duplicate them? you know that they quite often break and need to be replaced right? or maybe you can just pony up the cash to buy a code cutter just to cut sc1 keys. and if youre feeling super cheap you can just buy a duplicator and use depth keys to cut one good good that you know that works and duplicate them as many times as you want, yourself.

I recommend you google image search SC1 bump key and look at the many many photos and compare that against yours.

is this *your* lock you are trying to bump? it raises red flags to most of us when someone is just focused on getting into one particular lock no matter what. If it is your lock and you just want to repin it, you can back shim it if the lock is not installed in a door, or take the lock off the door if the door is not locked, and if it is a locked door, who's door is it and do you have access to the old key?

As mentioned above on a Schlage deadbolt simply shim the lock to rekey. Nobody I know bothers to pick or bump these for rekeying and I have been doing this for a long time.

Here's a video on shimming. Don't think he is a locksmith but a keen hobbyist. Don't pay attention to his pin loading advice as it is all wrong, but a good video for beginners.

I GOT NOTHING BUT GOOD LEGAL INTENTIONS TO LEARN EVERYTHING I CAN ABOUT LOCKSMITHING/LOCK PICKING, My goal is to become a Locksmith in the near future.
When I posted that question I couldn't post pictures of my Schlage cores I got from local thrift stores,I understand that ya'll need to watch out for ppl using this forum for criminal goals. But that is not me, For locksmithing learning purposes I buy old locks w/out keys and take them apart and re-key them and for some REASON JUST CAN'T GET THE LAST BINDING PIN TO SET ON BASIC 5-PIN SCHLAGE LOCKs.

I AM TRULY GRATEFUL TO BE A PART OF SUCH A FUN,EDUCATIONAL, WELL THOUGHT OUT FORUM WITH SUCH KNOWLEDGEABLE AND INDEPENDENTLY CRAFTY USERS. If theirs ever anything else you would like me to clear up PLEASE PM me. I just hope no one negatively judges me on 1 not so well thought out post, I see a lot of ppl get shunned from this forum for asking questions that sound criminally intent.

Do you or anyone else know why I can spp Kwikset,Master, and even a Big brass Brinks padlock with relative ease and then can't even rake/spp a basic Schlage 5-pin commercial lock??????? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Every lock is different. Where this Schlage may be difficult for you, another Schlage may be easy. One may have a more difficult bitting than the other. Schlages can also have security pins which masterlock and kwiksets are less likely to have. Also the SC1 keyway can be a pain in the but for beginners. The SC1 keyway is not as straightforward as the kwikset or master lock keyways. Just keep practicing.
