Hi, this was my first 2 attempts at making bump keys. Please be nice to me and tell me what is wrong with it etc.

Your Schlage key would probably work once the key is hit enough to impression itself to correct for any spacing errors but you might have problems with your KW1 bump key. IMO the peaks are a way too high and the valleys are not spaced far apart enough. Take a look at any commercially available KW1 bump key and you'll see what I mean. But give it a try anyways, it might work.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

For first tries they aren't terrible. But I don't think they will work. The cuts do not appear to be deep enough, the peaks seem to be a bit to high and the angle of your cuts is not uniform. What type of file are you using? And do you know the proper way to file a key? Only cut moving the file away from you, never on the backstroke. Go slow, you will get it. Do you know the proper depth and spacing you are trying for? Do you have a way to measure your cuts? The Schlage depth you are looking for is .200 Kwikset is .211

Lol, i knew they sucked.
I used a triangle file, and no i didn't know its only away from you and not on the backstroke. I actually don't know how to space out the peaks and valleys, could some one help me with that? And i don't really know what this is talking about "The Schlage depth you are looking for is .200 Kwikset is .211".

I'm just trying new things waiting for my picks to arrive which i ordered on May 22 and still havent arrived.

Each lock has a different "9" depth, which is the deepest the keys will be cut to, so, filing to an arbitrary point might not work out very well, you know?

Also - easy way to line up your valleys is to take the plug out of a lock, put the blank in, and etc a quick line with a scribe through each pin chamber onto the blade of the key.

What that refers to is the measurement for the proper depth. It's not actualy the depth of the cut, but how much of the key blank is left after you cut. I'm going to assume that you do not have a micrometer or caliper. If you are going to make keys you need one. You can find a caliper relatively cheap at a store like Lowe's of Home Depot.
