I've been unable to successfully bump my key, and would like to just buy one. Can someone direct me? https://imgur.com/a/PLsSs

you've been unable to what now? to pick the lock, make a bump key, or bump your lock? which is it? You wont be able to bump a lock with that key it is not cut correctly.
Are you locked out of somewhere? Are you a locksmith or a hobby lock picker? That's for an SFIC lock, not sure those can be bumped since they have an Operator and a Control shearline.
Thanks, Squelchtone

Why are you trying to bump a Best J section SFIC? Not too common a section. Is it for your work place? What was it you covered over in the picture? Duplication Prohibited? The locksmith shop name? Property of University of Pennsylvania?
It is also not easy to bump an SFIC. Damage to the lock is more likely to happen. Can you please post a picture of the lock and the key turning the lock with your username and LockPicking101 in the picture?
This is kind of an unusual request for a new user on their first post, so please understand if we are hesitant to give out the information too quickly.
Gordon

Ahh yes, the elusive #42 master bump key is what you seek.

After I locked his post on KP I found the one of his on Reddit that went into more detail. Given that his other posts are about buying fake ID I was talking with some of the Reddit mods and he is probably some under age kid/adult trying to get into another dorm/apartment/storage area.

Indeed. Also, it's not wise to post pictures of keys, especially if you're up to no good. even though the code on the bow of the lock is obscured, the bitting can be determined, and the system owner can figure out who the key was issued to. It's too late to remove the picture as well, since locksmiths here have already grabbed it. The direct code can be easily determined from the picture, and from that it's easy to determine who the key was issued to if it's part of your system. Unless they connected using a proxy to Reddit, keypicking and lockpicking101, and used a picture of someone else's key (doubtful, since the key isn't on a ring) interested parties will have a good idea of who they are. From the picture, I think it's an actual BEST blank, not a Jet blank because of the location of the "J" indicating the keyway. It's a newer key, not the really old style Best keys. I think it's a 6 pin A2 system, so probably an established educational or municipal system. I'm sure that real lock experts can tell more than I can though.

Could offer to sell him a bump key, one with extra-special saw-tooth style bump cuts at 90 degree angles on the tip end of each cut. And to make sure it gets to him, the ship-to name would need to be stamped on the key.

The 90 degree cuts need to be on the bow ends, not the tip ends. That way the key pins get the needed velocity to bump the drivers. Gordon

Surprised someone didn't offer to send him a "trap key".
