Hi,

I removed the lock from my front door recently in a bid to try repair it because it was not working correctly. However, I seemed to open Pandora's box and now I cannot re-assemble all of the parts.

Could any of you walk me through it because, as it stands, my house is a mecca for would-be burgelers because there is currently no lock on the door.

Any help at all would be massively appreciated.

I don't see the encabulator, or logarithmic casing, this will not be easy. Time to call in a locksmith. What city are you in, we can at least recommend one that isnt going to rip you off.

What part wasnt working correctly for you? The thumb turn inside the door or the rim cylinder that is mounted through the door? Was the latch sticking and not springing out into the plate mounted to the door frame?

does it look like this from the inside of the door?

Thanks,

The plate pushing against the spring has to go on the said of the "dam" in the casting closest to where the latch comes out, the retractor part of the latch (the tabs at right angles to the long axis of the latch) go on the other. The cams on the case and back have to be in position to pull the latch retractor back when they turn, so you have to push the latch in when you put the back plate on. Make sense?

If one cannot look at a very simple lock like this and determine how it operates and therefor how to reassemble it, then you aren't ready to be taking things apart. This is really the most simple lock made.
