Hey all, I have checked around the interweb (as Richard Rawlings of Fast and Loud would call it) for a key to a Diebold lock. My brother in law remodeled the Iowa State Trooper HQ in DSM (Lucas Bldg) and got a bunch of document safes. They have Diebold locks similar to a safe deposit box. However, the key is not like any I have found. It looks like a guard key for a typical SDB, but has milling. The lock number on the back says it is a 175-42. I cannot find any record of that anywhere even existing. I have 1 guard key for only one of the locks, the safe has two locks. Wondering if anyone has seen this type of key around, or do I have to buy a standard key and put the milling in myself. I haven't mic'ed the key to see if a regular key would even work. Wanted to bounce this around the community. I have a working key and this safe is my pistol safe, but I would like to have a spare and or cut my own key for the other lock. I am roughly 30% thru the Foley Belsaw program right now and finding myself consumed with locksmithing!! Check the dropbox link for pictures. Thanks!! https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gm94gjncpit7 ... =174640921

not familiar with the lock but looking at photo 5 in your drop box it looks like the milling on the key you have was done by hand originally
a tidy locksmith, picks, up his rubish

Thanks Cledry, that is the best option I have seen so far. Capt. Dunc, I see what you mean by the hand milling, but the keyway is identical and both the key and lock are factory Diebold. I can only assume this may have been some kind of special government deal. Just stumped as to why there is no evidence i have found yet of this model number existing. Thanks guys!

Have you looked through Ilco's key blank catalog? Section 4 is safe deposit and section 5 is flat steel. One thing I have found when researching safe deposit locks is that sometimes the manufacturers change over the years. Also, with SD key blanks, I have found that if I am looking for an oddball, I can sometimes find something similar and modify it. http://www.kaba-ilco.com/key-systems/li ... ories.html

I know that I am "late to the game" here but if you still need these blanks, I think I can help you. I am a service tech with Diebold and both of these blanks are still available. The renter (closest to the bolt) blank part # is 03-000324-0-00-0 and the guard (other side) blank part # is 03-000078-0-00-A. Both of these show to be in stock. If you need some of these, let me know. I'll see what I can do about getting them for you. Thanks, atmtech3078
