Found an old padlock. What is this thing?

So I know someone that was out metal detecting and found this rusty old lock.

Can someone help us to identify the thing and maybe what it was used for?

Appears to be a smokehouse padlock. It is a broad term to fit a bunch of different styles of padlock.

idk what kind of lock it is, but i can say that at one point in time it must have been a beautiful lock! even in it's current state it has a certain charm.
