Question about 1092VB

Postby gadgetboyj » 19 Mar 2016 4:26

Has anyone ever tried copying a Master Lock 1092VB key onto a 1092VA blank? From the little information I've been able to dig up, it seems the 1092VA is the reverse milling of an M3, and has been superseded by the 1092VB. The only visible difference (that I can see, but I have very little experience with this) is that the shoulder on the 1092VB is rounded while the shoulder on the 1092VA is basically a right angle.

I ask this because I'm trying to purchase a "blade" for a product called a Keyport to use with a lock I have, and they only sell 1092VA:

Thank you to anyone who can answer this or test it out! :D

They aren't the same, not just the shoulder but they are close. Why not visit a locksmith shop and take your lock and ask them just to see if the VA blank will slide in. I think with a worn lock it just might, or might need a slight reworking.
