I am a novice at this subject, but have a problem that I am trying to deal with. This past weekend I bought 1 of 5 old very used med carts that use to be used by a nursing home at an auction. After purchasing the cart I found that the locks on the drawers were locked, and that there are no keys. It has BEST locks, cylinder style, and three of them have a number on them C109, and the other lock is numbered B102. I am trying to find a way to open them and get a key for each. I plan on using the cart as a wrench chest for my shop. Can anyone help me? I went to a local lock-smith but he said he could not.

sorry boss, we tread real light when it comes to helping folks open up certain things they buy on craigslist or ebay or at an auction, including payphones, parking meters, Coke machines, washers and dryers with coin mechanisms, and as of today medicine carts from a hospital/nursing home. If we give you instructions on how to open them, then anyone with internet who wants to break into one at a real hospital or nursing home and steal meds or drugs like Oxy can just follow our instructions that we gave you while helping you out. Did you actually bring the cart with you to the locksmith shop? That might make them feel better at opening it, but then again they might think you stole the whole cart from a hospital (not saying you did, but I've dealt with paranoid locksmiths before who wouldnt even sell me a blank key or cut me a key by code!) You may want to go to another shop but ask the correct questions, say you bought a cart at auction, and you want to get the SFIC re-cored, or have them pick it and make you a working key, and you don't need a control key, ask them that, and you may get more traction.
If you post a photo of your entire cart and one of the lock real close up and not blurry, we can try to be as helpful as possible, maybe there's some other ways to make them useful again. upload photos to http://imgur.com and Paste the link here.

Unfortunately the numbers on your locks refer to a code only the locky who first installed those locks knows. I find it hard to believe that your local locksmith said 'he couldn't help you', I'm sure that while he is unwilling or unable to take the locks apart, he can help you by dismantling them. In my shop it would be costly to pick open one of your drawers, then pick the core to remove it & take it apart and make a 'first key'. You might consider instead the cost to simply neutralize the locks and removing them from the cart.
You might consider opening a case with E-Bay, it isn't your fault this cart has been rendered unusable, that is the fault of the seller

Least expensive option is to drill control shearline and replace with 4 cores kaa. Any locksmith can do this. We are doing 9 ex FedEx trucks today that are exactly the same, each has 4 SFIC Best locks without keys or control keys. Currently each truck is keyed differently which is unfortunate because I would just make a control key otherwise and save the cores but this customer wants to key all 9 trucks alike.

I agree completely with Cledry. But, you need to have them drilled out, picked or at least internally measured to count the pins before you order replacement cores. Depending on which lock you have they can be 5, 6, or 7 pin cores. Also, if the cores are in a Best push-in housing, I have seen and repaired several broken housings. I hope you have not bought into a "money-pit."
