Question about removing a broken door knob

Postby Calgarygirl93 » 10 Jun 2016 23:47

Hello. I need advice please. Hopefully my description is okay. I have a closet in my bathroom that had a key lock doorknob. My landlord didn't give me they key. Long story short, the door knob jammed in the middle of the night. (I didn't lock it, it just must have jammed and got stuck.) Anyways, my daughter's medication was in there and it was the middle of the night so I didnt want to call a locksmith so I smashed the knob off with a jackhammer. So the "knob" part is completely off. (I mean like the round part that you hold on to, to turn the door.. The rest of the metal parts of the door handle are still attached, on both sides of the door.) There aren't any screws or anything to easily remove it. I'm just wondering if a lock smith would be able to remove the remaining metal parts off of the door/ if that would be possible with the "knob" part of the door handle removed? Or if I am going to have to remove the entire door. Thanks.

A picture is worth a thousand words, please take a photo of that door so we can see what brand and model lock it is, and include a pic of the knob you hammered off with a clear focused view of the keyhole. A clear close up view of where the knob was attached to the door as well, the decorative round plate can tell us a lot of info on how that one is removed.

Upload your pics to imgur or photobucket and copy/paste the links so we can take a look. We can offer much better advice or instructions once we see the photos.

Thanks

A locksmith would be able to remove the lock one way or another. Give one a call.
