Yale padlock parts

Postby dontlook » 21 Aug 2016 17:05

Does anyone have an idea where I might find replacement parts for this old Yale padlock?

I probably need replacement shackle spring, replacement pawl springs and T pins. One the T pins and springs rusted in to a pawl and broke when I tried to remove it so I might need a new pawl.

I'm about the northeast and will check around here, but any advice is appreciated.

I don't know how much luck you will have finding parts, but if I were you, I would just make them myself. :D

I feel like the springs shouldn't be bad if no one knows what they are I can probably find something at the hardware store or McMaster Carr. The tough part is going to be the replacement pawl. If the electrolysis works and the pieces come loose in the old pawl, then I just need to make the t pins (picture nails filed down?).

I'm hoping to save a lot of work.

Does it have some sort of sentimental value? If not just buy another one.

You find them a lot on ebay. The electric utility companys use them a lot, here in the UK, so a common find.
Now the UK pound is about parity with the US dollar, fill yer boots.
