Anyone know what this lock is called?

The center cylinder of this lock spins freely, but the outside is firmly in place. Does anyone know the name of this type of lock or have any tips on how to open it?

Reason: Does nobody understand that the [image] command WILL NOT WORK if you link to an Imgur Album? you have to link to the actual gif or jpg or png INSIDE the album. *shakes head*

Looks a lock in use to me. We suggest you don't pick locks in use.

Do you have its key? It's difficult to tell what lock it is without seeing the key.

Cheers :)

I'd call that a flat key lever lock

very much like this one:

good luck picking it if you are a beginner.

We have yet to find a key for the lock which does make it difficult. The inside cylinder freely spinning also makes tension confusing. Idk maybe I'll just have to drill it. Thanks for the replies.

You can't pick it with normal pin tumbler picks.

You sure it's the whole cylinder spinning? I've seen warded and wafer locks in the past which resembled yours from the outside appearance. However the part that spins is just a thin sheet metal cover, not the entire cylinder.

If you can find a sample of the same type that could give a clue.
There are probably 6 or 7 levers and probably 4 depths. The odds are the gates in the levers are all the same but the bellies are different for the 4 depths. This means the lock could be decoded.
These locks are sometimes masterkeyed. A special lever (operated by a zero cut) adjacent to the bolt is arranged to lift the next five levers with the last lever being independent. The change key is cut so as not to lift the master lever while the masterkey is cut so as not to lift the middle 5 levers. There would be 4 masterkey differs only.
