Hi guys,
Im a newbie who just discovered the site and lock picking. There is a lot of cool content and learning opportunities on the forum and I look forward to contributing as well. Ive seen practice picking stands and am planning on making one. I was hoping someone might provide some insight on where I might get some old deadbolts to install for my stand. I thought about talking to a local locksmith but have not got around to that yet. If anyone has any clue I would really appreciate any responses and look forward to being a member of the forum.
Thanks.

You dont want old deadbolts from someones junk bucket or ones that have been sitting on the shelf in someones garage for 20 years.
Spend $12 at home depot and buy a Defiant double sided deadbolt, it will be much more fun to learn picking on a new working lock than on a dirty grimed up one where you wont know if youre having a haed time because youre a new picker or because the lock is gummed up or has something else worn with it.
Im gonna edit your title as well since it sound like you are offering free deadbolts

Local Goodwill or thrift store.

Thank you both for your responses. Squelchtone, thats a decent price for a double sided deadbolt. Id like to do a progressive set, any other recommendations on deadbolts?

I would be happy to send you used lock cylinders, if you pay the postage. Absolutely nothing wrong with practicing on used locks and it's far better for the landfill if I don't throw them away. Also for the price of a small priority mail box I can put several types of different locks together for you. I would only send the cylinders, not complete assemblies

Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a good place to pick up some locks.
You can occasionally find a good deal on a lot of locks on eBay.

Picked up a Dexter KIK and a deadbolt from Goodwill a few weeks ago for $3, combined. No keys. Did not put up any fight against picking, but got some experience in decoding the pins and cutting a key with space and depth keys.
May have paid too much for it, but picked up a Baldwin mortise lock, with brass trim, for $15 from a junk store a month ago. All the parts were there. The lock needed to be cleaned (it had dirt inside) and it was mainly a chance to learn about how such locks worked. The cylinder it came with was about 2 inches long--must have been some door. It works fine now.
At flea markets I've picked up padlocks (no keys) for $1 or less each--good for picking and impressioning practice. Got a safe-deposit lock (without the prep key) for $3.
That is a lot of lock for less than $20, just have to look for them.

I go by a Local Door/Window installing Company and check out doors they throw out, Most with locks, Last week I found one with a Supra Lock Box, got that instead, had to split the wood as it was screwed in and locked, Got it Home, Finally figured how to open, til then thought it may not be possible, Should have grabbed the locks as well, as I now had the keys. You can also cut out the small section of door and mount, Holes are already drilled. If you know a Contractor or Handyman, ask them to save you a couple, they usually throw out. Good Luck New is nice, some of the older ones seem pretty good quality?

Surprising how easy it is to pick those Supra Title key boxes once you know how, isn’t it? Gordon
