Need help picking a lock

Postby petemoss » 4 Nov 2019 23:15

This lock vexes me sorely. It is a small zinc, or something, lock that just says Corbin Made In the USA. It is a wafer lock. In the closed position you can see that the keyway is lined up at 12 o'clock to the body of the lock. After picking it and having it rotate you can see that the core rotates about 45 degrees. The lock will not open at this point. I have lubed it as well.

I'm not sure if I really picked it and it just won't open, or maybe I didn't really pick it. I have seen videos with false sets and whatnot, maybe from security pins, etc. But they never seemed to rotate this far. Any thoughts?

You picked it. I have the same lock with its original key. It used to work fine but at some point the shackle stopped being released. I can pick it or use the key, but it doesn't work any more. There is some piece that is worn in the release mechanism.

Cheers :)

Hey thanks femurat. That makes me feel better. It was totally beginning to infuriate me; I couldn't figure out what was going on.

Thanks again,
