Old Gougler padlock, asking for combination assistance

Postby Glichi » 2 Mar 2026 17:03

I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this request. I inherited a Gougler padlock and would like to recover the combination. This lock has both a right stop and a left stop. The local locksmith was not very helpful. The hasp is stamped with 9244. If someone can offer help, I’d sure appreciate it.

You can try Gordon's suggestion from a separate thread:

Hi, FranklyFlawless. Thank you for your reply. I tried Gordon’s suggestion, starting from both the right stop and the left stop. Unfortunately, it did not work for me, but I’m remaining hopeful a solution can be found!

Code 9244 SHOULD work out to:

L14-R5-L5-R4

Since your lock stops in either direction, turn right (clockwise) until it stops. Then turn left (counter/anti clockwise) for 14 CLICKS. Not numbers... clicks. Once you have felt the 14th click, start turning right for 5 clicks. Next, left 5 clicks, then finally, right for 4 clicks.

Unfortunately, the old code books do have errors in them from time to time.

Let us know if this works for you!

Gordon
