How to pick this type of lock?

I've lost cupboards key, got some stuff there that I need to get.

There are a bunch of tutorials online on how to pick a lock but this lock seems to be different which would probably require a different method.
The lock looks like this

Sry quality is bad but I hope you can make out what type of lock it is. There is some sort of a bar type thingy in there. Don't know it's called.
The end portion of the key looked like this


I bought papers clips, folded one and tried to pick it for quite a while without any luck. Didn't know what I was doing. I desperately need your advice
Where should I poke and do I need to apply pressure somewhere? I'm clueless..

Please help me get the lock open, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Paper clips will not be strong enough. a coat hanger with a 90 degree bend might work better. A call to a locksmith will work best, this is not a job for a beginner picker, we probably can't teach you this very well over the internet, but look up "lever lock picking" and the term "lever lock wires" on youtube, that may help.

Is the lever located on the top? Like in the video? Should I press the tentioner straight or on the bottom?
I'll try with a hanger, indeed paper clips seem to fold too easily.

As for calling a locksmith, I'd rather break it open. Can't afford It ATM.
But I'd like to avoid breaking it, I gotta at least try to pick it first.

if that is a picture of the actual key for that lock you might want to show that picture (and any others you might have) to a locksmith and just buy the key, or reproduce it yourself somehow. you might even try your luck with similar key's you find around the house.

Depending on the cupboards design it might be possible to take out/off the hinges or just unscrew the plate on top or the back and take the whole thing apart (the cupboard, not the lock)

If that was the actual key that is a pre-cut National furniture lock, most locksmiths in the USA wil have those available.

Usually these locks in my experience stop working because a lot of grit has built up inside the hole in the head of the key, so it isn't going far enough into the keyway. The other reason is that the wood the lock is built into has expanded due to humidity.
