Hi y'all.
So I have this old Yale padlock:

I had the devil's time picking it open and here is why:

The ward on which the pins would normally rest have been drilled out so that the tips of the pins set into it. I don't think this was intentional, but that someone got overzealous with the drill press when the lock was made. I wonder if I am correct in this assumption and if anyone here has encountered anything similar?
