HYT lock.

Postby dmanthelocksmith » 27 Oct 2014 21:27

I have been looking through the previous threads and haven't seen anything about this lock so hopefully this isn't a duplicate post haha.

A friend of mine showed me this lock and I thought I would see if anyone here has heard of it.

It's a brand called HYT and I believe it is a Chinese or Japanese brand. Apparently it is very rare and discontinued.

The keyway is curved so it is pretty much impossible to pick or bump. Also the key is basically a chain. In order to open the lock the key has to be "injected" into the keyway.

Here is a video link and a few pictures.

There have been a couple of previous discussions such as:

The keyway was also used on an automotive shifter lock

Looks to me like a key or picks/rake made out of flexible plastic would work ,
credit card or thinner stock.

Supposedly HYT is out of business ..... The locks are somewhat "collectible" now.

There was something on the web at one time about picking this lock with a flexible plastic key, bitted to the original key. I dismissed it because you needed the original key to make the plastic key in the first place. Duplicating the original key and then using the duplicate doesn't count as "picking" or even "bypassing" in my book. But hey, that's just me ....

Anyhow this thing has been 'round the horn a few times. So has the "Forever" lock.

If I want to get my tail kicked, I'll just grab a MEDECO, my boxing gloves and a chicken bone and pick away ....
