I am a lock smith with pit stop pop a look in McAlester Oklahoma. A old friend brought me a older American combination to try to reset the combination, or just find out what the existing combo is. Any help/advise would be appreciated.

Outside of our advanced forums, we typically do not give information on how to work out combinations of padlocks that are frequently used at schools and other such places.
This is nothing against you personally, but some kids can/will Google similar searches so they can get in to places they do not belong.
If you stick around and are involved in the forum, then when you have met the requirements, you can apply for the advanced forums. There, we can be more open about such discussions with less risk of such information being misused.
Thank you for your understanding.

You mean pitstop pop a lok right? Snip! As far as I know, there's no way to reset the combination on this lock. Besides manipulation, I don't think there is a way to find the combination nondestructively, and as Gordon said, that can't be discussed here. There's a lot on the web about opening these locks though.

I tried to make corrections but site would not let me. Yes we are pit stop pop a lok in McAlester Oklahoma. This is a square padlock with rolling tumblers on bottom not a school locker. I have opened sure locks befor and have 3 on my desk now. Thought I might be able to use the same method to figure the original combo of this lock.i have opened this lock a dozen times.but it's not practical in the field that's why the owner hoped I could figure out the combo. I can be reached thru pit stop at XXX-XXX-XXXX.
EDIT: Removed telephone number from post. This could be considered marketing, and is thus not permitted. People can contact you via PM.

As for the surest way to decode that type of lock. Put in a DVD movie, relax, and start with 0000, proceed to 0001, 0002... All the way to 9999, though it will most likely open before you reach 9999.
There have been some modifications to the design over the years to make certain decoding and bypass methods more difficult. The above method is the easiest and surest.
