My "Beastmode" Corbin and Minions

Postby Maliphus7 » 7 Dec 2015 16:27

I had recently taken some pictures of my favorite padlock to show off on KP and wanted to share them with everyone. I hope you enjoy.

I was also informed that because the plug and Ring turn together with this key that this is a Master Ring and I have the Original key that turns both but not the key that turns just the inside plug. (which was told can be impressioned carefully or dangerously taken apart etc) thanks to - Robotnik for that information!

my neighbor after showing him i collect locks ran next door and brought back two minions to go with my big Corbin and gave them to me!

I have not picked this lock or had much time to do anything with it it opens very smoothly seems to be 6 Pin and the Minions they came without keys and i picked first one by paperclip but the second one was a bit too strong spring pressure (Im talking strong) so i ended up making these small picks for fun and using them to pick the tiny keyways :)

Here are the minions

I should add that the hole is where a cover used to probably be before i came into possession of the lock im guessing like its brothers.

This one was wrapped in black tape and must have protected the writing on the back of the lock unlike the other one which cant make out any writing at all... but i think i would need to use PB blaster or some kind of cleaner to remove the black tape to see the writing and i have not taken time to investigate it since i like them how they are :)

Looks like the minions were the property of Union Pacific Rail Road, congrats,
you are now a collector of railroad locks too!

That's what I call a big padlock! I guess Gordon will be envious as soon as he see it.

Thanks for sharing :)

Yea he saw it over on KP and he says he would like to add it to his "locks not to drop on your foot" collection lol if i ever decide to part with it... I guess its a spendy lock when i first asked for help identifying them i think someone said it was like $100 which i would have never guessed but to be honest doesnt really matter since money isnt what makes it awesome :D , and i have no want to get rid of it in all honesty the shackle is just awe inspiring to me and it opens SO smoothly lol... Must have a dust sound dampening system from years of laying in dirt would be my guess but could be wrong haha since i am not entirely sure where my uncle found it before he passed away. (he worked for county Road Crew drove road grader)

Ha ha, that's how he calls them. Locks not to drop on your foot  it could be a new forum!

About the last railroad padlock. Try to make a key for it. It's a lot of fun,and even if you fail, you learn a lot in the process. Look for Lauren thread and get inspired.

Cheers :)

Nice collection you've got going. That last UP padlock's a very interesting one.

Agree with your decision to leave your MR padlock as-is. Such a beautiful piece.

Yea i saw that Barrel key collection that was really amazing! I dont have the equipment or time to pull it off currently.

I also have this Eagle Six Lever here i shouldnt forget about i suppose its kinda small so it gets left behind sometimes. Im not sure why my camera was freaking out with discoloration but i was just trying to get phone to focus lol.

The front says "Six Lever" and the back says "Patented June 16 1914"

Its a bit long so will have to click on the picture to see the date on right side i think its right click view image to see full size :D

I wonder what the patent 'claim' was unless this was the original of that style of padlock. The 'levers' are just hooks that hold the shackle until spread apart by the key. There was often a baffle plate between the levers and the cut for that doubled the available differs.
