So what's in the holes? Any name on the bolt itself?

Are you the owner of the property or the one who pays the rent? If you don't own it I suggest you don't fiddle with the lock. Just a wild guess: If the holes are empty, the big decorated lock cover can be unscrewed. Good luck

HAHAHA, never even occurred to me but THANKS for asking!
No, the owner! the cover does not have a set screw or release anywhere. it's flush with the door. Looks like the key is original and has COLE KWI stamped on it.
(edit) unless you mean on the bolt/plate - in which case I didn't even look!? DOH

Your deadbolt was made by Amerock about 35 years ago. In fact, if you look on the latch face, which is mounted into the edge of your door, you will see their name printed there. Unfortunately Amerock went out of business many years ago and their ugly, misshapen locks are no longer produced. Your lock uses the same keyway as Arrow, if that is any help.
To remove your lock, you need to put the key into the inner deadbolt and turn a bit, until the holes on either side of the key, open up and you can unscrew the screws hidden behind the holes, with a little phillips screwdriver

dibs on this lock if OP is just going to throw it away. I'd like to fiddle with it, and I'll be happy to pay shipping.
Let me know, thank you. Squelchtone

It may be true that residential jobs demand a higher degree of understanding, in order to deal with the dumb clients, but they do have money. So I just slow down a bit and try to figure out what it is they mean with all that squeaking and the many hand motions they sometimes use to communicate with

If you can't get the screws out, you can always just use a drill with a 3/16's drill bit and drill through the holes, until the outer half falls off
