4 Pin Tubular Lock - How do I get it open?

Postby mspencer » 3 Oct 2016 16:57

A company we hired made us a "Check In" app for an iPad they gave us to put in the lobby of our office.

The problem is that (apparently) neither they nor we have the keys to get the iPad out of the holder it's in.

I've watched tutorials about tubular lock picking but they are all for 7-8 pin locks. For the life of me I can only count 4 pins in the hole.

How might I pick this lock? Is there a key you can buy or a special 4 pin tubular lock picker, etc?

Please note that we are not accusing you of trying to steal the iPad. But we do not know you. Why would you need to take the iPad out of the holder? Why do you (by you, I assume you mean the company) or the vendor not have the key?

Because tubular locks are frequently used to secure things of value, such as vending machines and iPads, that information is considered restricted by the rules of the forum. We recommend you contact a local locksmith.

Thank you for your understanding.

Locking the thread.

As an IT guy we have tablets in locked cases around my office for people to punch in and out as a time clock, and when we lost our keys, we called the people who got us the tablets and display cases and they didnt have a key so they just reached out to the cabinet/holder/bracket supplier who mailed them some keys, and they in turn mailed them to me. Lean on the people who supplied you with the hardware to call their suppliers and get another set of keys, I suspect the keys are all the same.

Otherwise, learn how to SPP, or bring it to a local locksmith shop like others have suggested.
