Old Lock, New Key, Almost Perfect Biting Match

Postby 108CAM » 15 Feb 2023 1:52

This is one of my keyless Lockwood 234's that I got as part of a lot.

The key is much newer than the lock but the key biting is an almost perfect match to the pins inside the old 234 padlock. I got quite the surprise when I put the key in and the core turned with only the slightest amount of jiggling required.

This almost perfect biting match gives me a huge advantage for when it comes to creating a key for the lock since I can use the key I have as a guide for creating the new key.

If you don't own it, you don't pick it.

How many keys did you try before you found one that worked?

Got it on the first key I tried. It does seem as if the jiggling has caused some kind of wear to either the key or lock as it now requires more jiggling to open.
I'm going to try and impression a proper key for the lock by using the key I have as a template because of how close the bitting is.
