What is this knobset part (shim, pin?)

Recently bought a security knobset + deadlock set, and it came with this additional part which I've never seen before.

Is it some kind of a shim? Thought it might be a pin for depressing the button on the knobset, but doesn't quite fit.

One end is supposed to be for depressing the retainer that holds the inside knob/lever on & the other side of the tool is for tightening/loosening the outer screw-on rose that is right under the handle/lever
