Chinese combination lock picked

Postby rodger_10 » 11 Feb 2024 10:07

I picked a chinese combination lock by sliding a pick in and lifting the bar. I got the lock open but now I cannot reset the lock to a new combination. I have a tool that is L shaped that you put in the hole and turn to reset the lock. When I set the new combination and turn the tool to remove and lock the lock the combination I set will not work. What am I doing wrong, other than throw the dang thing away and buying a new one. I would like to know so if I pick another I will know what to do.
Thanks, Rodger

I need to know how to fly a specific airplane, but I won't tell you what kind of plane or show any pictures. Tell me how to do it.

You are asking the same type of question. Can we get some pictures of the lock and the tools you are using?

Sounds like a sesamee-type with the wheels at the bottom, and the com-change keyhole on the side at the bottom. It can be OPENED with a mini-knife as the OP mentioned. But afaik, that does not allow the the combination to be changed. For that, the correct combination must first be dialled.

The lock might be decoded with the mini-knife. If the OP cannot do that, pass an hour or so cylcling through every possible combination until the correct one is found — ie, 'brute-forcing' the combination. On average, it should mean searching about half the keyspace. Then the combination can be changed.

I've Been Curious, Never Tried On a Master or Sesame Padlock With Change Hole on the Side.. Will Check When I Dig out..you Can't Access the Wheels while it is Locked, Shackle Blocks access, But If Bypassed or Knifed Open, Can you Slide a Guitar String though Change Hole Each wheel rotating til fully Inserted. I Understand may need to add 1 to 9 numbers to find actual Combo.
Not Lazy, Those are Burried
Thanks in Advance
