OLD Sentry Safe L0810 - Help Opening It

Postby mandatoryprogrammer » 24 May 2013 16:05

So long story short I have an old L0810 with some documents in it that I need to open. It's my father's safe and he no longer remembers the combination or has the key!

So I'm not an advanced lock picker but I've been interested in the hobby and have a tubular lock impressioning tool (KLOM) which I used to open the key lock. This is all good but the safe doesn't open even when the key has been turned. The actually key tube pops forward out of the safe front and you can press it back into the safe. What does this mean? Does the combination have to be known as well?

I called up Sentry and they basically told me that I wasn't allowed to open it and I should consult a locksmith. I told them I am a hobbyist (and that we owned the safe, etc) and had the key opened up and wondered why the safe wasn't opening. At this point she basically took me as a thief and told me there was nothing she could do and they had no information or guides on such an old safe :(

So what do I do? Am I screwed? I just want some sort of documentation to make things clear on how this thing is opened...

I can't find ANY info on this safe online or anywhere - here's the only real info I could find and I called them and they don't know anything or have one :/ http://www.4keyslocksafes.com/sentrypage.htm

Thanks for any help you guys can give - I'd hate to have to end up drilling this thing but I suppose if that's what has to be done...

Hi,

We don't talk about opening safes in the public area, that's reserved for the Advanced area which is members only. This way we dont accidentally help someone out and then have a bad guy come along looking for info on the same safe model.

I recently had to open one of these, the combination had been forgotten. I got lucky and pressed 55555 and it opened. Try things like 12345 54321, 11111, 22222, 33333, 99999, etc and you may just get lucky. Otherwise take it to a locksmith, or drill, but you will have to know WHERE to drill.

There's also another way, you can PM to find out more if the test combinations dont work, and yes, you need the lock popped out AND type in a combo in order to turn the handle.

Let us know if test numbers worked

I would recommend purchasing a tubular lock pick off a website such as lockpickshop.com. They are around 85 dollars or so.

He already picked the tubular lock using a KLOM tubular pick he has.

He does not know the electronic keypad code. Please read his post again carefully.
